Works update – 7 December

The upgrade of the Bruxner Highway on the Mallanganee Range is all but complete.
Council’s construction crew sealed the road yesterday and all that remains is the cleanup. The crew will now move to the western side of the range where they will start a $4 million upgrade project on the highway. The work will involve widening a section of the highway, adding kerb and guttering, and improving the road surface.
Council will be sealing the first of two sections of Clarence Way at Sandilands on Friday, with the second section to be sealed before the Christmas break.
The upgrade of Dyraaba Road continues. Work has started on laying the base course of the new section of the road. Council had hoped to complete the project before the break, however it looks more likely that it will now be January before it is finished.
Council also has a construction crew undertaking flood damage rehabilitation on the sealed section of Bingeebeebra Creek Road.
Council has started remediating the troubled section of the Clarence Way between Woodenbong and Urbenville (see picture). The crew is currently working between Urbenville and Becks Bridge, but they will also tidy up a number of the worst sections of the road before the break.
Flood damage grading is happening on Brindle Creek, Green Pigeon, Joes Box and Yabbra roads. Flood damage drainage crews are still on Wender, Tabulam, Bentley, Bean Creek, Cob O Corn, Lynches Creek , Pines, Old Lawrence, Bingeebeebra and Old Dyraaba roads. Once these jobs are completed, they will move to Tulks, Hillyards, Shorts, Brown Knob, Newtons, James, Gooley, and Saunders roads as well as the Roseberry and Boorabee catchments.
Interim repair works on the slip on the western abutment of Geneva Bridge are still on target to be completed before the break. Landslip repairs are also in progress on Kyogle Road, Dyraaba Road, and at four sites on Tabulam Road. Work to repair a landslip on Wender Road is expected to start next week.
Pothole patching has been completed on the Mt Lindesay Road into Woodenbong. This crew has now returned to Clarence Way and is expected to stay on the Clarence Way until the break.
The other pothole patching crew is finishing up on Gradys Creek Road and will then move to Bentley Road and Kyogle Road with aim of doing as much as possible before the break.
Work is progressing at Olesons Bridge on Collins Creek Road, and at Capeen Creek Bridges number 1 and 2. Work has started on a new bridge on Levers Road. Work on the new bridges on Tunglebung Creek, Pines and Iron Pot Creek roads continues.
