Published Environmental Monitoring Data
With the introduction of the Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011 (POELA Act), the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) requires all holders of Environment Protection Licences to make environmental monitoring data publicly available.
Council operates sewage treatment plants at Kyogle, Woodenbong and Bonalbo, and landfills at Kyogle and Woodenbong. The sewage treatment plants and landfills are licensed by the EPA, therefore environmental monitoring data relating to these facilities is required to be publicly available.
The environmental monitoring carried out at these facilities is mandated by the EPA under requirements specific to each licence. Environmental monitoring data may be accessed below.
Licence 832 – Kyogle Sewage Treatment Plant – 119-125 Highfield Road, Kyogle
The Kyogle licence monitoring period is reported upon annually with a 1st July anniversary. Please use this link to access the Kyogle Sewage Treatment System Environment Protection Licence in the EPA’s Public Register.
As a condition of the licence, the treated effluent at the licenced discharge point (referred to in the licence as Point 1) at the Kyogle sewage treatment plant is monitored fortnightly. Point 1 is located at the south-eastern corner of the property boundary at the pit located on the discharge pipeline.

As a condition of the licence, the treated effluent at the licenced discharge point (referred to in the licence as Point 2) at the Woodenbong sewage treatment plant is monitored monthly. The location of Point 2 is within the balance tank.

The Pollution Incident Response Management Plan outlines the steps followed to prepare for and respond to any pollution incidents at our sewage treatment plants and any associated sewerage reticulation. Our process aims to ensure that hazards to the environment, human health and safety are minimised, if not completely eliminated.
