The best of the best beef cattle from across the Northern Rivers will be on show at Kyogle on Saturday, 27 April for the annual Kyogle Beef Bonanza.
Run by the Richmond River Beef Producers Association, the event aims to showcase the beef cattle breeds which are produced on the Northern Rivers and encourage young people to get involved in the industry.
There will be competitions in various classes for:
- Pen of three vealers milk tooth;
- Single class milk tooth vealer;
- pen of three replacement heifers exhibitor bred;
- led steers.
There are great prizes on offer, ranging from cash to farming equipment to trophies, ribbons and vouchers. The Richmond River Beef Producers have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses who have sponsored the event, some of which are listed below: Stuart Bros Butchers, Casino Food Co-op, Riverina Stockfeed, Hurfords, Ian Weir and Son, Ramsey & Bulmer , George and Fuhrmann and the Summerland Bank.
There will also be junior parader and judging competitions. The winner of the Junior Judging Class will receive a perpetual trophy sponsored by the Richmond River Beef Producers Association. The winner of the Junior Parader class will also receive a trophy.
As an added incentive to competitors, points gained in the Led Steer Class can be added to the cumulative point score in the Casino Beef Week Steer Series that is run in conjunction with Grafton Show, Bonalbo Show and McLean Show.
Judging will start at 10am and organisers are inviting the wider community to come along and check out the prime beef on show.
