Kyogle Australia Day festivities will be held the Kyogle Memorial Hall and will get underway at 9am with the Kyogle Lions Club serving up a free traditional Aussie morning tea of billy tea and damper topped with lashings of Cockies Joy (Golden Syrup).
The official ceremony will start at 10am and will include the presentation of the Australia Day Awards and performances of poems and songs that tell the story of rural Australians in line with this year’s theme Everyone, Every Story.
Australia Day Ambassador Dr Ross Walker will deliver the Australia Day address. Dr Walker is an eminent practicing cardiologist with a passion for preventative cardiology and who strives to raise public awareness of heart health.
He is also a professional speaker and is highly sought after around the world.
There also will be a citizenship ceremony, with three women from diverse backgrounds officially becoming Australian citizens on the day.
Entry to the Kyogle pool will be free as part of the town’s Australia Day celebrations.
