Playing with Leaves is rooted in a childhood game, in which Mario collected leaves to create images – planes, faces, cars – using them to tell stories that helped him make sense of my world.
Mario has since revisited this childhood ‘leaf game’ and it has evolved into a profound artistic exploration. Meticulously crafting realistic leaves from leather, capturing their vibrancy and stages of decomposition. This exhibition showcases the unique sensory pleasure that forms when playing with leaves.
You’ll encounter works that explore emotions and others that celebrate the whimsical ideas, forms and beauty in child’s play.
