Waste that cannot be re-used, recycled or composted goes into the red-lid landfill bin which is taken to the Kyogle Landfill.
These items are accepted in your landfill bin
Keep out:
- Asbestos – see asbestos removal and disposal
- Chemicals, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, batteries, smoke detectors and paint. These items can be dropped off for FREE at the Kyogle Community Recycling Centre.
- Soil, building materials.
- Ensure no food goes into this bin! All food belongs in your weekly green-lid organics bin.

Tips
- Set up your household bins to separate waste before it reaches your wheelie bins. View our Get it Sorted at Home video (below) for ideas.
- Store bins in the shade if possible, particularly in summer to reduce odours.
- Ensure bin lids close completely to reduce odour and pests.
- Visit Recycle and Reuse Facilities to make sure you’re recycling all you can to reduce landfill.
