From 3 July 2023, all commercial premises and businesses that received a Council waste collection service changed over to a new service under Council’s new 3-bin system.
Council’s Commercial Waste services include a standard 2-bin system for all non-food generating businesses, including a 240L yellow-lid recycling bin serviced fortnightly and a 240L red-lid landfill bin serviced fortnightly, on alternate weeks.

Registered food premises
The NSW Government has mandated that food waste be collected separately from food generating premises, including supermarkets, cafes, pubs and clubs and take-away food shops.
Accordingly, if you currently receive a waste collection service from Council and your premises is also registered on Council’s Food Premises Register, you will receive a 3-bin service. In addition to the 240L red-lid landfill and 240L yellow-lid recycling bins, you will also receive a 240L green-lid bin for food and garden organics, which will be collected weekly.

If you are a food premises but don’t currently receive a Council waste collection service, or you generate any food waste at your premises, you can opt to have a food and garden organics bin. See fees and charges for service costs. Please call Council on 6632 1611 to arrange this service.
By opting to receive a food and garden organics service you will ensure that food waste is composted instead of disposed in landfill, which is better for our environment.
Reducing waste in your business
Across NSW, businesses send more than 2.5 million tonnes of waste to landfill each year and around 70% of this could have been recycled or composted. Find out below how your business can make a difference today!
Single-use Plastics Ban
From 1 November 2022, all NSW businesses are no longer permitted to supply or stock single-use and problematic plastics. These include single-use plastic straws, stirrers, cutlery, bowls and plates, expanded polystyrene food service containers, cotton buds and certain rinse-off personal care products containing plastic microbeads.
Single-use items such as these make up 60% of all litter in NSW. By swapping them for reusable, sustainable alternatives, businesses can help our community reduce the amount of waste being generated. To find out more, visit the NSW EPA Website
