Roxy Gallery is excited to invite applications from artists to exhibit. We focus on showing original work from regional artists based in Kyogle, Northern Rivers and beyond, and encourage applications from further afield, in order to bring different perspectives to the gallery.

Exhibition Details
Exhibitions typically run for six weeks, though this may vary depending on scheduling. We charge a gallery fee of $406 (incl. GST). This fee covers all the support and services mentioned above, ensuring your exhibition is professionally presented and promoted.
For sales of your work, the gallery takes a commission to support our operations:
- 22% commission on artworks sold during the exhibition.

You will receive an acknowledgement of your application within two weeks of submitting. We aim to let you know the results of your application by the end of April.

How do I write an artist bio?
The purpose of an artist bio is to provide a concise overview of your artistic journey, highlighting your background, inspirations, and achievements. It should include your artistic focus, key accomplishments, education or training, and any notable exhibitions or projects. There are many resources online to help you get started, you can attend one of our public information sessions for guidance or head to Arts Northern Rivers for free professional development resources and courses.
What is an Exhibition Statement?
An Exhibition Statement is to provide insight into the theme, concept, or inspiration behind your proposed exhibition. It helps viewers understand the meaning or context of the show. It should include the ideas, processes, or messages driving the work.
Does my work need to be framed?
Your work doesn’t need to be framed, but if it’s to be hung, it must have appropriate hanging fixings. Feel free to reach out if you’re unsure about presentation requirements.
Can I apply if my work isn’t wall-based?
Absolutely! We welcome work in any medium or format, as long as it meets safety standards (e.g., no biohazards, weight limits, etc.) and we can figure out a way to display it. We love showcasing diverse and innovative art forms.
Are there size limits for artworks?
While there are no strict size limits, we do need to ensure your work fits within our gallery space and meets safety requirements for moving. Please contact us if you have specific concerns or particularly heavy or bulky work.
How will my application be assessed?
Roxy Gallery prioritises submissions from regional artists based in Kyogle, Northern Rivers and beyond. We look for works that demonstrate artistic quality, including technical skill and originality. To ensure a dynamic program, we seek a diverse range of mediums, styles, and themes for different shows.

What is the gallery fee?
$406 (incl. GST). This fee covers promotional support, installation, a launch event, and staffed gallery hours during the exhibition.
What do I get for my money?
Your exhibition will receive professional promotion, installation support, a launch event, and staffed gallery hours during opening times. We’re here to help make your exhibition a success!
Can I sell my artwork during the exhibition?
Most definitely! The gallery takes a commission of 22% on sold artworks.
Will my work be insured?
Roxy Gallery provides public liability insurance for use of the space. This does not cover the artwork exhibited as part of your show. If you’d like your artwork to be insured, then you will need to take out your own insurance for damages on your artworks. See the following resources to find information:
Note – you are not required to take out insurance. Roxy Gallery caters to a range of artists, from early career to more established artists and the decision to take out insurance can depend on where you are at in your career. Roxy Gallery is staffed when it is open to the public, and locked when the gallery is closed.

Do I need to have had a gallery show before applying?
Not at all! We’d love to be the first gallery to showcase your work.
Do I have to be from Kyogle to apply?
No, we do prioritise artists from the Kyogle, Northern Rivers and beyond. However, we welcome applications from artists everywhere.
Is the gallery physically accessible?
Yes, the gallery has an elevator with a weight limit of 300kg. If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know so we can accommodate you.
What about invisible accessibility needs?
The gallery is an open space, lit with spotlights that are arranged at many different angles. While it’s generally quiet, noise levels can increase during events like exhibition launches. The veranda faces Summerland Way, so traffic noise may be present. We have individual male and female toilets, as well as a large all-gender accessible toilet.
