DESCRIPTION:The Kyogle Community Christmas Luncheon for singles and couples alone at Christmas will be held at the Kyogle Community Centre (formerly the Seniors Centre) in Bloore Street\, Kyogle on Christmas Day (25 December). \nThere will be a full roast dinner and desserts as well as lucky door prizes. \nTickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.  No alcohol permitted. \nTickets are available from Clay Corner\, Kyogle and T & W McCormack Casino. Ticket sales will close at 5pm on Friday\, 15 December 2023. \nThe event is sponsored by Kyogle Rotary and Growing Kyogle.

SUMMARY:Public Meeting on Fire Ants
DESCRIPTION:Last week fire ants were detected in South Murwillumbah\, the first confirmed detection in NSW. This follows the discovery of other nests at Innisplain\, just 13.5km north of the Queensland border with Kyogle.\n\n\n\nAs fire ants have now been detected in two local government areas bordering Kyogle\, it is now more important than ever for residents and businesses to be on alert for fire ants. Fire ants cause serious social\, economic and environmental harm and it is important to keep the Kyogle local government area free from this aggressive pest.\n\n\n\nThe Department of Primary Industries\, in conjunction with Kyogle Council\, will be holding a public meeting about fire ants\, next Wednesday 13 December\, 5pm-6pm in the KMI Hall. At the meeting DPI staff will talk about:\n\nthe impact of fire ants and how they are spreading\nhow to identify a fire ant nest\nwhat to do if you think you have fire ants on your property\nnew biosecurity rules affecting movement of heavy machinery\, hay\, soil\, landscaping material etc.\n\n\n\nCouncil encourages all residents to come along to the meeting to learn more about this highly invasive pest and what you can do to make sure the Kyogle local government area remains free from fire ants.\n\n\n\nIf you would like further information about fire ants visit www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/biosecurity/fire-ants or call DPI on 1800 680 244.
