SUMMARY:Anthea Moffatt - The Painted Years
DESCRIPTION:The Painted Years is more than an exhibition\, it’s also a celebration of Anthea Moffatt’s long involvement in the creative arts. \nThe local artist is turning 90 this year and her exhibition at Council’s Roxy Gallery features a new body of work which reflects her life’s journey. \nIt tells her story\, and looks back on the many places lived and the fond links to those places. \nA Kyogle resident for many years\, Anthea has been involved in both group and solo exhibitions at the Roxy Gallery over a long period. \nHer works have been enjoyed and purchased by many. \nThe official opening of The Painted Years will take place on Saturday\, 3 September from 2-4 pm and will include an artist’s talk and a lots of birthday cheer. \nThis exhibition will be on show from September 1 to October 9.

SUMMARY:Renowned Australian chef to speak in Kyogle
DESCRIPTION:One of Australia’s most celebrated chefs\, Christine Manfield\, will be speaking at an event organised by the Kyogle Writers Festival Committee on Saturday 8 October at 2pm at Uniting Church’s Fellowship Centre\, Bloore Street\, Kyogle. \nChristine has spent her life pursuing – and perfecting – her love of cooking\, and her culinary work draws on the tastes and flavours of many cultures. \nHer professional life as restauranteur culminated in three highly acclaimed restaurants: Paramount in Sydney\, 1993-2000\, East@West in London 2003-2005 and Universal\, 2007-13. \nAs an award-winning author\, Christine’s books\, including A Personal Guide to India and Bhutan\, Dessert Divas\, Tasting India and Paramount Cooking\, have spiced up the lives of keen cooks everywhere. As Nigella Lawson has noted\, “Christine woke people up to the flavours and influences from around the world through her food’. \nChristine has also led bespoke gastronomic tours over the past twenty years to exotic destinations such as India (where she has visited more than 40 times)\, Bhutan\, France\, SE Asia\, Italy and South America. \nSince relocating to the Tweed coast in 2020\, she has been promoting sustainable food production and celebrating the produce of the Northern Rivers region. \nJoin Christine in Conversation with Southern Cross University food historian\, Adele Wessell\, as they talk about her cooking career\, her travels and her latest book\, Indian Cooking Class\, published by Simon and Schuster.
