Rural Adaption Seminar

June 2, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

- $10

Join the Border Ranges – Richmond Valley Landcare Network for a Rural Adaptation Seminar at Kyogle on Wednesday 2 June to learn more about the importance of adapting your rural property management for a changing climate.
Speakers will explore how we can adapt management of vegetation, water and soil for better outcomes for farm productivity, resilience and ecosystem health.
There will be plenty of time to meet other local farmers, check out information from partnering organisations, and ask questions of presenters.
Speakers will explore questions like:
– What is adaptation? Why adapt?
– What are the projections for our North – Coast climate in the future?
– What does this mean for me, and for local ecosystems?
– What can I do to get myself and my place ready for change?
– Why does biodiversity matter on farm, and what can I do to improve it?
– What does the evolutionary history of this area and the big scrub tell us about looking after it in the future?
– What is landscape rehydration? How do I keep more water on the property?
– How do healthy soils help make farms more resilient? What role do they play in landscape rehydration?
– What is the deal with harvestable rights and water licensing?
– How can I manage water on farm when its flood or drought?
– What info and support is out there to learn more?
This will be a Covid-Safe event and is wheelchair accessible.
Bookings are essential, and tickets can be booked by following this link to Eventbrite.
