Instead of a three-day festival this year, Kyogle Readers and Writers Inc., the organisation responsible for the Kyogle Writers Festival, is putting on a fabulous one-day event called Literary Allsorts.
This will be chock-a-block full of interesting, sometimes funny, always thought-provoking talks, panel discussions and poetry readings. The event takes place on Saturday June 3.
Highlights include:
- Powerful Indigenous author and model, Sasha Kutabah Sarago, whose book, gigorou, about her experiences as a beauty assistant, model and magazine editor, has recently been published;
- Comedian, Greens candidate and author, Many Nolan;
- Surf writer, Tim Baker, talking about his book, Patting the Shark, which explores his experience of prostate cancer and the medical system.
Panel discussions include ‘Creating through flood and fire’, ‘Displaced Literature’ and ‘The Last Outlaws’, a discussion about the award-winning podcast series which documents the untold story of Jimmy Governor.
In addition, there will be the always popular Poets Breakfast in the morning while the day wraps up with a cabaret at the Kyogle Bowling Club featuring our own Odette Nettleton and Lisa Sharpe performing her one-woman show, Roar! Thor and Jasmine Phillips will be adding their musical talents to the evening.
