Kyogle

Kyogle’s Australia Day festivities will be held the Kyogle Memorial Hall and will get underway at 9am with the Kyogle Lions Club serving up a free traditional Aussie morning tea of billy tea and damper.

The official ceremony will start at 10am and will include the presentation of the Australia Day Awards, musical entertainment and a community sing-a-long.

The Australia Day Ambassador, who is yet to be named, will deliver the Australia Day address.

A free lunch, prepared by Kyogle Quota Club, will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Council’s inflatable activity centre will be at the Kyogle pool on Australia Day, and there will be free entry to the pool on the day.

Bonalbo

2020 West of the Range Australia Day festivities will be held at the Bonalbo Bowling and Recreation Club starting at 10am.

The festivities will include market stalls, barefoot bowls at the Bowling Club and an ambrose event at the golf course.

There will be a free sausage sizzle at the Bowling Club from 11.30am.

The official ceremony including the presentation of the annual Australia Day Awards will kick off at 1pm.

Brigadier Warren Gould will be the official Australia Day guest.

The celebrations will conclude with a gumboot throwing competition with prizes for the “best bloke”, “best Sheila”, “best young fella” and “best young Sheila”.

In line with Australia Day celebrations across the Kyogle Council local government area, entry to Bonalbo pool will be free on the day. There will be a children’s inflatable water slide at the pool.

Woodenbong

Australia Day celebrations at Woodenbong will begin bright and early with billy tea and damper from 8.30am at the Woodenbong Hall.

A flag raising ceremony will be held at the front of the hall at 10am, with the official proceedings set to start at 10.15am.

Woodenbong’s yet-to-be announced Australia Day ambassador will deliver the Australia Day address.

The celebrations will also feature video and photo presentation to recognise and thank all the Rural Fire Service members, volunteers, and local business who assisted in protecting the Woodenbong community from the recent bush fires.

After the ceremony, a free lunch will be served and then it’s down to the Woodenbong recreation ground for the annual city versus country cricket match.

And for those people who would rather celebrate Australia Day with a swim, entry to the Woodenbong pool will be free on the day.
